God has a way of speaking to us through the things we face in life. A few months ago, I began receiving test results that told me something was wrong. My blood work pointed toward cancer. An MRI showed areas of concern, and a later biopsy confirmed what the other reports, doctors and specialists had already indicated. Yet through it all, I did not feel sick. I remained active, felt good, and had no symptoms that would make me think something serious was happening inside my body, especially cancer. I would tell people, “I don’t feel sick. I feel good.” But the reports told a different story. I had to learn that what I felt did not change what was true. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
If today you are not saved, I encourage you to listen carefully to what I am saying, because you never know when that final moment will come. I know that may sound serious, but I have learned something through my own experience: just because you feel fine does not mean everything is fine. As I prayed about my health, God began to speak to my heart about something much deeper. There are people all around us who hear the message that they are lost and need a Savior, yet they do not feel lost. They feel like they are doing fine. They may be good people, live what they believe is a good life, and have never felt the need to call upon God. But just because a person does not feel lost does not mean they are not lost. The Bible tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
We cannot depend on our feelings to determine our spiritual condition any more than I could depend on how I felt to know what was happening inside my body. The Word of God tells us the truth: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” — Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV). We need the Holy Spirit to open hearts and help people see their need for Jesus. You may feel like everything is fine today. You may be healthy, successful, active, and enjoying life. You may have never thought seriously about where you will spend eternity. But none of us knows when our final moment will come. That is why we must not put off the decision to follow Jesus. Today is the day of salvation.
So today, let us pray for those who do not yet know Christ. Let us pray that God will send His messengers into their lives to lovingly and boldly speak the truth. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will go before them, prepare hearts, remove spiritual blindness, and give people ears to hear the voice of God. Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him.” — John 6:44 (NKJV) There are people who may feel fine today, but deep within their souls, they need the forgiveness, mercy, healing, and salvation that only Jesus can give.
May we never stop praying for them. May God open their eyes, soften their hearts, and awaken their spirits to their need for a Savior. And if you are reading this today and you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, don’t wait until you feel like you need Him. You need Him now. Don’t wait for a better day, a more convenient time, or another opportunity. None of us is promised tomorrow. “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13 (NKJV)
Today, let us pray that God will send His messengers and that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts of the lost to hear the truth, receive Christ, and come home to God. May those who feel fine realize that they need a Savior, and may they call upon the name of Jesus while there is still time.
